Popis studia

The doctoral study program Toxicology is focused on interdisciplinary study of toxic compounds, study of their effects and their analysis within compulsory subjects (Toxicology, Applied Toxicology) and compulsory courses (Basic Course, Introduction to Toxicological Methods, Advanced Methods in Toxicology). Compulsory-elective courses (Analytical Toxicology, Environmental Toxicology and Ecotoxicology) are set for a deeper specialization of the student within the focus of his dissertation and the student can choose them appropriately. A compulsory part of the study is also an examination in Professional English Language, creative activities, research internships and pedagogical activities. The study is completed by a state doctoral examination and a dissertation defense. The aim of the study is to educate interdisciplinary experts (toxicologists) with an advantageous combination of natural and medical knowledge with an emphasis on practical laboratory experience and skills. The study of this program allows direct output into practice.

Profil uchazeče

Graduate of a Master's degree programme with a focus on natural sciences or medicine.

Profil absolventa

A graduate of the doctoral study program Toxicology has detailed knowledge of toxic compounds, their effects and analysis. In particular, the graduate is able to demonstrate advanced knowledge of the penetration of toxicologically important compounds into the organism, their molecular transformation, effect and excretion; demonstrate knowledge of diagnostic, therapeutic and preventive methods for toxicologically relevant compounds; understand environmental risks, the possibilities, conditions and limitations of different experimental methods; collect and evaluate toxicological data, including the results of their own experimental measurements. The graduate is able to work competently in a toxicological laboratory and responsibly assess risks. The acquired knowledge, experience and skills will allow the graduate to enter practice directly to positions where interdisciplinary toxicological education is needed.

The entrance exam is an oral interview (via online meeting) and consists of a discussion with the committee about the submitted research project. The entrance interview is conducted in English.

Successful admission to study of Chemistry programs is also conditioned by health eligibility. This has to be confirmed by the general practitioner or equivalent health care provider and must not be older than 4 months prior to the application deadline. Such confirmation must be presented in English on the original health eligibility form. Detailed and complete information on the admission procedure for doctoral study programs can be found in Dean's Decision No. 18/2025 , which you should read carefully.

ATTENTION: As a first step, before you begin your admission process, please contact the relevant potential supervisor (according to your chosen area of research focus) and agree with them on the topic of your future dissertation and whether they will also supervise this work – his written approval is an integral part of the research project form – see above.
