Popis studia

The doctoral study program Biology and Ecology is a continuation of the bachelor and master studies of the same name. Students of this program have three compulsory courses - Collection and Evaluation of Biological Data, Creation of Publications and Professional English Language, and they can also choose three courses from 12 specialized courses, or they can complete a course corresponding to their specialization at another university in the Czech Republic and abroad. In addition, they are obliged to teach at the Department of Biology (undergraduate and follow-up master's degree programs, in particular exercises), a foreign internship, a presentation at a seminar or student scientific conference, and of course scientific activities. The study is completed by a doctoral exam in the specialization of the student and the defense of the doctoral thesis.

Profil uchazeče

Graduated in Biology and Ecology, Biology with a specialization, or a similar Master's program in Biological Education.

Profil absolventa

Graduate of the doctoral study program Biology and Ecology is a young quality scientist, a specialist in his field who is able to work in a scientific team and lead a similar team. He / she is able to obtain scientific projects and solve basic or applied research. He / she can be employed at universities, research institutes and research teams in the Czech Republic and abroad, also as a postdoc.

Přijímací řízení

Each applicant will prepare a short presentation of the research project and information about himself / herself in English. The condition for admission is to register for one of the listed topics and to agree with one of the trainers. The admission committee will evaluate the quality of the candidate and his / her prerequisites to obtain a Ph.D.
