Hostující vyučující z Missouri Southern State University

Ve dnech 14.–21. dubna 2026 uvítá Katedra sociologie hostující profesorstvo z Missouri Southern State University. Dr. Ree Wells-Lewis a dr. David Locher se zapojí do výuky stávajících kurzů, ve kterých studujícím zprostředkují své odborné znalosti. Návštěva představuje nejen příležitost ke sdílení výzkumné expertízy, nýbrž i významný krok k posílení vzájemné mezinárodní spolupráce našich akademických pracovišť.

Kdo k nám přijíždí?

David Locher is a Professor of Sociology based in Joplin, Missouri, USA whose teaching and research centers on social institutions, deviance, and the dynamics of community life. He is the author of Collective Behavior (2002) and a 2024 TEDx talk about stereotypes. His work explores how cultural norms and organizational structures shape social behavior and often emphasizes real‑world application and student engagement, helping learners connect sociological theory with everyday social issues.

Ree Wells-Lewis is a Professor of Sociology @ MSSU in Joplin, MO, US.  Her primary areas of research / publication are Medical Sociology and Social Problems; along with teaching those subjects each year, she also offers Gender Roles, Social Stratification and Marriage & Family courses.  Her most recent field of interest is Medical Humanities, and helped to create a new Medical Humanities Certificate for Missouri Southern.  Also, she co-chaired and participated in the planning committee for the last two "Artful Medicine" symposia / conferences offered on our campus (2023, 2024).  Currently, she is co-editing a Medical Narratives anthology, "Body of Work:  Dancer's Narratives on Identity, Illness, and Injury" to be published in the "Connective Tissues" series, West Virginia University Press" (forthcoming, 2027).
