UHK Doctoral School

The UHK Doctoral School is the University of Hradec Králové’s central platform for the systematic support of doctoral students and their supervisors.

It operates under the responsibility of the Vice-Rector for Research, Development and Knowledge Transfer and is organisationally part of the Research and Knowledge Transfer Office. It was established within the project The Future of Education: Strategic Management and Development of Priorities at the University of Hradec Králové.

Vision of the UHK Doctoral School

  • Strengthen the quality of doctoral education across all faculties.
  • Support the development of doctoral students’ research and professional competences.
  • Foster a high-quality research environment.
  • Create opportunities for sharing experience and encourage interfaculty cooperation.

Mission

The UHK Doctoral School aims to provide systematic university-wide support for doctoral students and their supervisors. It complements and expands faculty-level activities and offers new forms of professional development that respond to current challenges in academia and research.

Strategy and Key Objectives

  • Improving the quality of doctoral education – through sharing good practice, methodological guidance and interdisciplinary meetings.
  • Developing research and professional competences – through targeted courses and workshops, for example on soft skills, the use of AI in research and project management.
  • Information and consultation support – accessible services for doctoral students and supervisors, including individual consultations.
  • Connecting the academic community – organising formal and informal meetings, building networks and supporting the exchange of experience.
  • Flexibility and openness – activities are shaped by feedback and reflect the current needs of the academic and research environment.
