The Na Soutoku campus turned green!

Václav Havel Square, situated at the center of the university campus at Na Soutoku, is renowned for its stunning fountain and lush green areas where people can sit and unwind. However, keeping these places pleasant for everyone in the warmer months is also a challenge due to the unpleasant heat from insufficient shading.
We decided to plant new trees to improve the microclimate of the square and provide a refuge from the hot summer days. We proudly announce that the planned tree planting on Václav Havel Square has been successfully completed. This milestone is a significant step towards providing cooling shade and improving the microclimate in the center of our campus. In the spirit of sustainability and cooperation, students of dendrology, faculty staff, and other volunteers, under the guidance of an experienced gardener, joined forces to plant together new trees, which will form the foundation for a greener and more welcoming environment.
The tree planting project, supported by the Sázej stromy.cz program of the O2 Foundation, has brought about significant improvements to our campus. Not only does it provide a green refuge for our community, but it also enhances the biodiversity and aesthetic value of Václav Havel Square. The trees, now accompanied by an information plaque with a QR code, offer an interactive way to learn more about each one, reflecting our commitment to the environment and our desire to create a harmonious space for all who visit the campus.
