What sustainable challenges lie ahead?

At the University of Hradec Králové, we see sustainability as a shared journey – a challenge and an opportunity. We want to be an active player in protecting the climate, promoting social responsibility and transforming thinking towards a more sustainable future. What are our specific goals?

  1. Our work in light of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

We strive to ensure that all our activities – from campus operation to research and educational outputs – contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. We want sustainability to be not just a word, but a natural part of decision-making and the day-to-day running of the University.

  2. Towards carbon neutrality

Our long-term goal is to achieve carbon neutrality. In doing so, we fulfil the commitments of the Green Deal for Europe and follow the Czech Republic 2030 Strategic Framework. We know it will be a long run but now is the time to start changing things for the better.

  3. Each of us has a role

We believe that the journey to a sustainable University starts with each of us. We want to build awareness of the impact of our everyday choices – whether it's how we travel, how we manage our waste or how we choose our appliances. Small changes in individual behaviour can lead to big systemic shifts.
