Hradec Králové City Library

Hradec Králové City Library is a public library with a universal book fund and services. The library is funded by the City of Hradec Králové.

The library was founded in 1894 as a city library. It offers its services to all citizens of the European Union and all other countries alike. Library premises are accessible freely for both registered and unregistered users.

The library offers public library and information services pursuant to the provisions of the Library Act in its central building and in the premises of all its branch libraries within the territory of Hradec Králové City.

The library also provides highly specialised services:

  • The library also hosts Hradec Králové Europe Direct Information Centre for the 2013- 2017 period
  • Audio Library for the Blind and the Weak-Sighted is a branch library of the K.E. Macan Library and Printing House in Prague and offers its services to sight-impaired readers.
  • The library's Music department is one of the largest and oldest in the whole Czech Republic. It offers a wide range of CDs, sheet music materials, and many other audio and audio-visual documents.
  • Hradec Králové City library is entrusted with the implementation of regional functions within the Hradec Králové district.
