Adjustments in the UHK Intranet

You will now find a search function in application links in the UHK Intranet. Navigation has also been improved and links are organized into boxes by topic.

Search in application links

For easier access, search is now available among all app links.

You search for applications in the same way as you search for people on UHK, in the search field in the intranet header. Depending on the width of your screen, the search results will be displayed either in two columns (application links on the left and people on the right) or one after the other.

The search also includes selected useful pages on the UHK public website, such as the official board, study department landing page, or academic year schedule.

You can search in titles and keywords for a term of two characters at minimum. Results that have your search term in the title are prioritized.

The icon in the top right of the title means that it is an external link, i.e. outside the intranet, and the page will open in a new window.

 

If the searched application is not primarily intended for your user group, a link will be displayed below the line, see application permissions for more information.

 

Navigation adjustments

Individual application links have been organized into boxes according to their content. Originally, some links were in the left menu under the "Applications" page and others were in the "Links to external systems" box on the "My overview" page.

Now all links are in boxes (widgets) and menu navigation is easier, specifically:

  • the "Applications" page and the left submenu have been removed
  • the "Services and Support" page has been added
  • "Settings" with the "My Profile" and "Preferences" subpages have been merged under the single "My Profile" page
  • "Approvals" can be found as the first item in the "Administration" box ("My Overview" page)

 

Where are applications?

Links to applications can now be found on the "My Overview" and "Services and Support" pages, divided into these three boxes:

  • Administration on the "My Overview" page - visible to all employees
  • Science and Education on the "My Overview" page - this box is only available to students, teachers and researchers
  • Services and support on the "Services and Support" page - visible to everyone, i.e. both employees and students

 

My overview

The "My overview" page continues to combine the teaching/study and work agenda. The links are therefore divided into the "Science and Education" and "Administration" boxes.

The "Science and Education" box is only displayed to teachers, students and researchers. If some links from this box are also needed by other employees, such as department clerks, they can find them in the "Administration" box. The "Administration" box is displayed to all employees.

At the same time, some names have been modified for better readability and the layout on the screen has been optimized.

The screenshot below is just an example. Each user will be shown links according to the user group they belong to. Examples:

  • A UHK Point employee has 6 more links in the "Administration" box than the example below, falling under this agenda, but the "Science and Education" box is hidden.
  • Students don´t have visible "Administration" box, but they have links e.g. to "Dormitories".
  • FIM students also have a link to "First Steps at FIM".

 

 

The "Library" box has been moved to the "Services and Support" page, as have the remaining links. Other separate application boxes, such as "My Teaching" or "Work Record", are retained.

 

Workplace

The only change on this page is the renaming from "Workplace Management" to "Workplace" with an additional change of the icon in the menu.

 

Services and Support

A new page that brings together links that fall under the service offer for employees and students. These include support systems (printing, library), benefits (SIM cards, courses), orders or technical support (helpdesk, reporting defects, cleaning).

At the same time, some names have been modified and also some icons for applications.

 

 

My profile

"Settings" with the subpages "My Profile" and "Preferences" have been merged under one page "My Profile". You can set your preferred color scheme in the last tab "Settings".

 

 

Search - permissions for applications

When searching, you may come across so-called "below the line" links. These are links to applications that are not intended for your user group. E.g. if you are an employee, links for the "student" user group are not intended for you. Such links will not appear in boxes (widgets), but they can be searched for. We distinguish three types of these "below the line" links:

  1. external public pages that are not meant for your user group, but are publicly accessible and can be opened (e.g. a link to "Dormitories" if you are an employee and not a student)
  2. external applications (i.e. outside the intranet) that are not meant for your user group and also require a password (the Intranet "does not know" whether you have an access to the application, but it assumes that you do not)
  3. internal applications within the UHK Intranet that you do not have permission to access

 

External links (i.e. types 1 and 2) are outside the intranet and you can recognize them by the icon in the top right of the name. These links open in a new window.

 

Type 1 link (public page)

You can open this link without any problems even if it appears below the line. 

 

Type 2 link (external application)

After clicking on this link below, you will be notified that you may not have access rights to the application you are looking for. A window will appear with the contact information for the application administrator and you can request access. Or you can try continuing to the link.

 

If you have the rights and the link is still displayed below the line, please let us know at podpora.is@uhk.cz. With the correct settings for your user group, the link to the respective application can be placed in the box (widget) for easier access.

 

Type 3 Link (Internal Application)

After clicking on this link below, you will be notified that you do not have access rights to this internal application. A window will appear with the contact information for the application administrator and you can request access rights.
