Course Description

The Czech language course at A1.2 level is designed to further develop and consolidate students’ basic language skills. Students will gradually deepen their knowledge of Czech and expand their vocabulary through work with short authentic and adapted texts.

An important part of the course will focus on reading comprehension, identifying basic information, working with new vocabulary and actively using it in everyday communication. Attention will also be paid to consolidating basic grammatical structures and applying them in both spoken and written communication.

The course will also introduce students to everyday life in the Czech Republic, Czech culture and society, and basic orientation in the Czech environment. The topics will be based on common situations that foreigners may encounter in their personal, professional and social lives.

Course Objectives

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

• deepen and consolidate their knowledge of Czech at A1.2 level;
• expand and actively use basic Czech vocabulary;
• develop the ability to understand simple texts;
• practise identifying and locating important information in a text;
• develop basic communication skills for everyday situations;
• consolidate basic grammatical structures;
• become familiar with everyday life and the environment in the Czech Republic;
• develop greater independence in using Czech in everyday life.

The course will be organized on weekly basis, every Friday from 9:00 – 10:00 and it will be finished in June 2027.

The course is intended for UHK employees and is free of charge for them.
