Questionnaire surveys at UHK

In recent years, the University of Hradec Králové has conducted two extensive questionnaire surveys. They aimedto assess the level of satisfaction with the study and work environment – encompassing working conditions and facilities, as well as the overall atmosphere experienced by employees and doctoral students.
Main areas of surveys:
- Evaluation of UHK as an employer
- Ethical aspects
- Professional development
- Nature of work
- Financial compensation and benefits
Questionnaire survey 2020
The first large-scale survey took place in 2020 as part of the preparations for obtaining the HR Award. Data collection was carried out throughout November 2020.
The results provided an important baseline for the second survey conducted in 2024.
A total of 581 respondents completed the questionnaire, representing a 57% response rate. Of these, the response rate was 38% among doctoral students and 61% among employees.
The full results of the 2020 survey are available here.
Questionnaire survey 2024
At the turn of October and November 2024, the second extensive survey was conducted. Once again, employees of the University of Hradec Králové, as well as doctoral students, were invited to participate.
Thanks to the connection with the 2020 survey, it was possible to compare the results and track changes over time – whether in areas of positive development or those requiring improvement.
In 2024, the survey was completed by 444 respondents. The overall response rate was 45% among employees and 42% including doctoral students.
This survey also had a charitable element. For each completed questionnaire, UHK donated 30 CZK to a good cause. Respondents could choose whether to support the Bone Marrow Transplant Foundation or the non-profit organization Pomocné tlapky. More than CZK 12,000 was thus donated to charity.
Since the data collection ended, a team from the Department of Sociology, Philosophical Faculty UHK has been working on a detailed analysis and interpretation of the results. Key findings have already been presented to the university management and serve as a basis for further decision-making. We have responded to the first insights immediately – either through minor practical adjustments or by proposing specific measures.
Further presentations of the results are planned for autumn 2025. The results will first be presented to the Academic Senate and subsequently to the academic community assembly.
The final version of the report is currently being graphically finalized and will be published at the turn of July and August 2025. A shorter summary report will also be made available.
In autumn 2024, a survey with a similar themefocused on wellbeing was also conducted at several other universities. For this reason, we included several identical or similar questions in our questionnaire, allowing for at least a rough comparison of results in an inter-institutional context. A brief comparison is currently being prepared by the Department of Sociology, Philosophical Faculty, UHK.
