The University of Hradec Králové (UHK) this week welcomed representatives of its strategic partner, the University of Ghana (UoG), for an official visit focused on deepening cooperation in research, innovation, and academic exchange. The delegation is led by Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana.

Academic Priorities and Research Development
In the introductory presentation, Vice-Chancellor Amfo outlined the University of Ghana’s strategic direction in research and innovation. “While structuring our research priorities, we looked at our strengths and also at where the current world is moving,” she noted. In addition to established areas such as medicine, food production, and climate action, UoG has incorporated artificial intelligence, data science, machine learning, and digital transformation to encourage researchers to engage with contemporary global challenges.

Prof. Nancy Odurowah Quashie, Deputy Director of Research, Innovation, and Development, introduced key institutional frameworks that support research excellence. The Vice-Chancellor for Research emphasized the broader mission of these efforts: “The aim of our research is to contribute to global development through academic freedom, creativity, and innovation.” Among the flagship initiatives is the Student Venture Support Program, an innovation hub that fosters student entrepreneurship and collaborates with international partners.
