The University of Hradec Králové has been ranked in the 1001–1200 band of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026, placing it in a shared 4th–6th position among Czech universities. This outcome confirms UHK’s growing reputation as a research-oriented institution with international reach.

This year’s results reflect continued progress in key areas, particularly in research quality and industry collaboration. UHK saw improvements in citation impact and the overall strength of its research environment, while also increasing its contributions to innovation, including through patents with a real impact on our society.

“It’s encouraging to see our collective efforts acknowledged in such a well-regarded ranking. We are determined to continue working on elevating Czech higher education further, this result shows that even a regional university can make meaningful strides in research and innovation,” said UHK Rector, Jan Kříž.

The THE World University Rankings assess universities across dimensions including teaching, research, international outlook, and knowledge transfer. UHK’s sustained focus on internationalization continues to yield tangible results. With that being a stable focus for growth, we also continue to enhance our relevance and competitiveness in research.

“We see this as a reflection of the work done by our researchers and teams across the university. And it’s not just about numbers, it’s about building an open and safe environment where good research can thrive. I'm glad that we've succesfully introduced the Doctoral School into our system and we're still developing new ways to support young scientists,” noted UHK Vice-Rector for Science, Research and Knowledge Transfer, Hana Tomášková.

Despite structural challenges faced by smaller institutions in research funding, UHK remains committed to enhancing its scientific performance and contributing to global knowledge through strategic partnerships and long-term development.
