UHK Hosted the national event “Local Boards Training 2026” for Erasmus Student Network

Author: Jaroslav Španihel, ESN CZ

From Friday, 2 October, to Sunday, 4 October 2026, the University of Hradec Králové hosted the Local Boards Training, a national educational event organised under the auspices of Erasmus Student Network Czech Republic (ESN CZ). The event aimed to expand the knowledge and strengthen the skills and capacities of board members in particular, as well as active volunteers from local ESN sections across the Czech Republic. It was organised by an experienced team of ESN Hradec Králové members, who ensured its smooth running throughout the weekend.

The main part of the programme consisted of eight workshops, with participants choosing between two options for each session. As a result, each participant attended four workshops. The facilitators covered a variety of topics, including communication within local sections, organisational strategy development, personal data protection, and funding opportunities for local sections through grants and subsidies.

The workshops were followed by social activities on Friday and Saturday. Participants had the opportunity to sample beers brewed at Pivovarské domy in Hradec Králové or take a guided tour of the Hučák hydroelectric power station. The programme was packed, yet participants remained enthusiastic and eager to actively engage in all the activities throughout the event.

The feedback from participants was positive. Mario Zahorjan, Vice President of ESN MENDELU, for example, praised the well-designed and relevant workshops, as well as the friendly atmosphere throughout the event.

I am delighted that, after two years, ESN Hradec Králové has once again taken on the organisation of Local Boards Training. The entire event ran incredibly smoothly, and the organising team did an excellent job, for which they deserve our sincere thanks. I believe that participants left Hradec Králové with not only unforgettable experiences and fond memories, but, above all, a wealth of new knowledge, practical tips, and best practices that they can apply in their day-to-day work and in the further development of their local sections. This is where I see the greatest value of events like this: in the opportunity to learn together, share experiences, and take our network one step further.

Jakub Starý

President of ESN Czech Republic

Overall, everyone agreed that the event’s motto, “Everything Will Be,” had truly come to life - because, indeed, everything was.

We would like to thank all the partners who supported the event, including the Czech National Agency for International Education and Research (Dům zahraniční spolupráce), Vodafone, Timetravels, Red Bull, and others.
