The Interdisciplinary Toxicology Conference (TOXCON) was held last week at the University of Hradec Králové. The 27th meeting introduced several central topics: Nutrition Toxicology, Animal Toxicology, In Vitro Toxicology, Toxins, Environmental Toxicology, Nanotoxicology, Military Toxicology and Xenobiotics.
The conference opening ceremony, on Tuesday 30 August, was led by our Rector, prof. Kamil Kuča, who is also the president of TOXCON. The first plenary lecture was introduced by Assoc. Prof. Ondřej Soukup, the head of the Biomedical research center at the University Hospital Hradec Králové, and Assoc. Prof. Martin Štěrba gave his remarks on "A paradigm shift in understanding the mechanisms of anthracycline cardiotoxicity and opportunities for effective pharmacological cardioprotection".
