The Ambassador of the Republic of Chile, H. E. Patricio Utreras, visited the University of Hradec Králové on Wednesday, April 20, 2022. The Chilean delegate was welcomed on the Na Soutoku university campus by Vice-Rectors Pavlína Springerová and Leona Stašová. Other university representatives, Vice-Dean Daniela Vrabcová for the Faculty of Education, Associate Professor Karel Kouba for the Philosophical Faculty, and Vice-Dean Kamil Musílek for the Faculty of Science, also took part in the joint meeting.

The friendly conversation followed up on the open possibilities of cooperation between the UHK and Chilean universities. Collaboration not only in terms of student exchanges, which are already happening but also in the framework of joint research topics. Ambassador Patricio Utreras also mentioned the Nobel Prize for Literature laureate, poet, and diplomat Pablo Neruda, whose artistic pseudonym and later the official name was allegedly created thanks to the inspiration of the Czech writer Jan Neruda.

Vice-Rector Springerová, who accepted the gift of Pablo Neruda's collected writings on behalf of the university, adds: "I am delighted that we were able to meet and discuss the successes of the cooperation and the areas for its continuation. Furthermore, the ambassador was very interested in our proactive approach to the Ibero-American Week, which takes place between May 9 and 15, 2022, and within which a number of activities will take place at the UHK. For example, a lecture on and tasting of Latin American coffee, a pub quiz on the realities of Latin America, or a professional lecture on the Amazon."
