Las Malvinas? Ambassador of the Argentine Republic at UHK

Place: Hradec Králové, Author: Tomáš Vodička, Matyáš Strnad

H.E. Roberto Alejandro Salafia visited the Philosophical Faculty UHK on Tuesday, 29 November 2022. The Dean, Dr. Jan Prouza, welcomed him at the newly reconstructed building. The introductory meeting was followed by a lecture on the "Question of the Malvinas Islands".

The delegation welcoming H. E. Salafia also comprised assoc. prof. Karel Kouba and Vice-Dean for International Affairs, Dr. Stephanie Rudwick.

The experienced diplomat, who has been in the service of the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs for more than 40 years, gave a lecture to our students already in April 2021, but back then it was only an online meeting. This time he shared his experience not only from Latin America but also from the USA and South Africa with our students directly.

"It was an honor to welcome His Excellency Roberto Alejandro Salafia to the Philosophical Faculty UHK. His vast experience was also reflected in the quality of his lecture and subsequent discussion. I believe that his visit was beneficial not only for our master's and doctoral students in Latin American studies or for exchange students from Latin America but also for everyone who came to the crowded auditorium of the faculty today. This was already the second ambassadors' visit in the last two weeks, which is great for our students, but also, in my opinion, it underlines the very internationalized character of our faculty," says Dean Prouza.

The program then continued at the UHK Rectorate with an appointment with the Rector, prof. Kamil Kuča. An amicable discussion on study and research cooperation possibilities followed a short introduction of the whole university. The Vice-Rector for International Affairs, Dr. Leona Stašová, the head of the International Office, Ms. Lenka Badinská, and the Philosophical Faculty delegation accompanied our Rector.Roberto Salafia

The conversation on higher education partnership benefited from the attendance of the ambassador's Second Secretary from the Political, Human rights and Cultural Section, Mr. Facundo D. Herrera, and our international student Francisco Salzamendi from Argentina.
H. E. Salafia finished the visit with a welcome speech at the online "Study in Buenos Aires" session organized by Czech National Agency for International Education and Research.
