Building Bridges: International Scientists Explore Hradec Králové Together

Author: Matyáš Strnad, Martina Petříková

On Sunday, 27 April 2025, international academics from the University of Pardubice (UPCE) and the University of Hradec Králové (UHK) gathered for a relaxed and enriching day in Hradec Králové. Organised in collaboration with coordinators from both universities’ international offices, the event offered a chance to discover the city's charm while deepening personal and professional connections.

The programme featured a guided tour of Hradec Králové’s architectural gems, a climb up the iconic White Tower (Bílá věž) with its panoramic views, and a scenic walk along the Elbe River. The day culminated in a convivial lunch, where participants continued their conversations in a laid-back setting.

This informal outing was part of ongoing efforts within the internationalisation strategy to foster cross-institutional connections and strengthen the community of international researchers in East Bohemia. Participants appreciated the city’s beauty and the opportunity to build relationships across academic institutions.

Encouraged by the positive response, organisers are already planning a follow-up gathering in Pardubice for autumn 2025.
