Author: Veronika Plchová

The University of Hradec Králové successfully hosted its Erasmus+ Staff Training Week 2026, titled “Connecting Minds Digitally”, from 20 to 24 April 2026. The event brought together university professionals from across Europe and beyond, creating a vibrant international platform for sharing knowledge, building partnerships, and exploring the role of digitalization in higher education.

A Truly International Exchange

This year’s staff week welcomed participants from more than a dozen countries, including Belgium, Poland, Türkiye, Lithuania, Hungary, Spain, Italy, Slovenia, Ghana, and the United States, which contributed to a diverse and inspiring professional environment.

The strong international presence fostered meaningful intercultural dialogue and laid the groundwork for future collaboration across institutions and borders.

A Dynamic and Future-Oriented Programme

The programme offered a rich mix of lectures, workshops, and interactive sessions, with a strong focus on artificial intelligence, digitalization, and innovation in higher education.

Participants engaged in hands-on workshops exploring the practical use of AI tools in administrative and academic settings, including prompt writing, automation of routine tasks, and responsible AI use. Expert-led sessions also addressed critical questions around AI risks and ethical considerations, encouraging thoughtful discussion on the future of technology in education.

In addition, sessions on intercultural communication and coaching in higher education provided valuable insights into supporting both students and staff in an increasingly global and digital academic landscape.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

The staff week extended beyond university premises, offering participants opportunities to experience Czech culture and history. A guided excursion to the Baroque complex in Kuks and a walking tour of Hradec Králové enriched the programme with cultural and social dimensions.

Social events, including the welcome dinner, created space for informal networking and strengthened connections among participants.

Collaboration, Inspiration, and Lasting Impact

Throughout the week, participants exchanged best practices, discussed shared challenges, and explored innovative approaches to teaching, administration, and research. The interdisciplinary nature of the programme, ranging from AI applications in research to classroom experiences with digital tools, ensured relevance for a wide range of professional roles.

The event concluded with a closing session, where participants reflected on the week’s achievements, received certificates, and celebrated the connections formed during the programme.

Looking Ahead

The Erasmus+ Staff Training Week 2026 at the University of Hradec Králové proved to be a highly successful event, reinforcing the university’s commitment to internationalization and innovation. The knowledge shared and partnerships established during the week are expected to continue developing, contributing to future projects and collaborations.

UHK looks forward to welcoming new participants in future editions of its staff training programmes and continuing to connect minds across borders.
