Whether you are a short-term tourist or a new student who just moved to Hradec, here are a few places you wouldn’t see commonly as recommended. Where can you have locally brewed beer? Best place to get souvenirs?
Lávka přes Orlici

Footbridge across the Orlice River. Not only does this bridge connect Hradec’s old town to the city’s University, but if you look carefully under either side of the bridge, you can spot the last remaining ruins of the castle. As the name suggests, Hradec means castle in Czech; it is no surprise that there used to be a castle in this city.
While you are at the bridge, take a moment to admire the view of the Orlice River, the hydroelectric dam, and a transparent bridge under your feet! If you have an extra time to spare, go to the “cheese building”, a Study and Scientific Library, and grab a coffee in a cafe under it.
Hradec Králové Forests

This is an ideal place if you love nature, travelling with children, walking, or biking. Hradec Králové boasts a large forest area where locals enjoy spending their time.
To get there, you can take bus no. 9 from Hradec’s main train station to Zděná bouda. Near the bus stop, you can already spot a children’s playground among the trees. This place is called Park Na Větvi. You can grab a local Klenot beer while watching your kids enjoy the playground above you.
Just a few steps deeper in the forest, you can also find a paintball pit called Firmsport Paintball. You might need to book an appointment in advance.
If you travel along the Hradečnice road, you’ll be able to find a small animal enclosure called Ohrada pro daňky, muflony a divočáky. As the name suggests, you can observe deer, mouflon, and wild boars, making it an educational trip for your little ones.
Petrof Gallery

If you take bus no. 2 from the main train station to Na Brně stop, you’ll be able to visit Hradec’s piano manufacturer’s showroom, Petrof Gallery. Not only can you try out their pianos in this place, but you can also grab a coffee or a cake in Petrof’s cafe.
Nearby, there is a Petrof Museum, where you can explore the history of Petrof’s pianos.
Hradec’s local beer: Klenot

Other than enjoying the local beer in Hradec’s forest, here are a few other places you can go. Pivovarské domy is located in Hradec’s old town square. It is a brewery pub where you can taste different editions of Klenot beer.
A few steps away from the brewery, you can visit a pub called Psí Bouda v Kopečku. The pub is cozy. You can also enjoy watching football or hockey matches here.
