Foreign students look forward to summer with FIM at University of Hradec Králové

More than 50 students from five universities in Hong Kong and Taiwan have decided to spend their holiday time at the Faculty of Informatics and Management (FIM) in Hradec Králové which has prepared “Czech it Out” summer school with many interesting activities for them. The opening ceremony of the summer school took place on June 26, 2017 in Na Soutoku campus.

Two main specializations are offered to students – 1) Modern Information Technology, 2) Business and Intercultural Studies. In addition to specialized subjects from the area of modern computer technology and economy and management, students can also choose from five other optional subjects including Czech and other languages.

Trips to Prague and other places of interest in the region form a part of the four-week program. Guidance for all of these activities is provided by the students of the study program Management of Tourism. Every Wednesday the students will visit prospering Czech enterprises where they will meet Czech specialists (Škoda Mladá Boleslav, Petrof, Vánoční ozdoby Dvůr Králové). Every Friday morning will be dedicated to a curriculum of specialized lectures entitled “Academic Talk”. These will involve discussion with not only local academic experts, but also with managers of major companies (Petrof, Foxconn). Friday afternoons are reserved for sports and cultural activities.

The ceremonial round-out of the summer school will be held on July 28, 2017 at 3 P.M. at Náplavka, including the awarding of certificates of successful pass of the summer school. In accordance with a mutual agreement, each successful student will earn 6 ECTS which will be transferred to the corresponding school in the form of a Transcript of Records. All parts and departments of FIM UHK participate in the organization and vocational background of the summer school.

Some of the aforementioned universities offer a reciprocal student exchange – this year, 40 students of FIM UHK are going to leave for summer schools organized by our partner universities (City University of Hong Kong and Chin Yi University Tai-wan).

The main objective of the summer school is professional development of students combined with new teaching strategies, and the creation of perspective relationships with foreign students together with better understanding of sociocultural environment of the visited country.
