The University of Hradec Králové has officially joined the Global Coalition of Ukrainian Studies. The agreement was signed on May 5, 2025, by the Vice-Rector for International Affairs, Leona Stašová. With this step, UHK became part of an international initiative aimed at developing Ukraine and supporting its citizens.

The Global Coalition of Ukrainian Studies was established on the initiative of Ukrainian state institutions – the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Presidential Foundation for Education, Science and Sports Support, the Ukrainian Institute, the Office of the Crimean Platform, and with the support of the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska. The Coalition aims to create an effective platform for coordinating initiatives that promote Ukrainian culture and education globally.

“Today’s meeting is proof that even regional universities like UHK can contribute to important and significant causes. We look forward to cooperating in preserving the values, culture, and identity of the hard-tested Ukrainian people, all within the initiative of the First Lady Olena Zelenska. It was an honor to sign the Memorandum of Understanding with the Global Coalition of Ukrainian Studies on behalf of UHK today,” said UHK Vice-Rector for International Affairs, Leona Stašová.

In addition to UHK, other major Czech universities also participated in the ceremonial signing of the agreement: Charles University, Palacký University Olomouc, and Masaryk University.
