Student exchanges
EXCHANGE STUDENTS: APPLICATION PROCEDURE FOR UPCOMING SEMESTER / ACADEMIC YEAR
WHO CAN APPLY:
A) ERASMUS+ AND INTERNATIONAL CREDIT MOBILITY STUDENTS:
Only valid for students from the Erasmus+ universities and partner countries that have a valid inter-institutional agreement with our institution! See the list of current Erasmus+ partner institutions.
B) EXCHANGE STUDENTS (ALL OTHER STUDY PROGRAMMES EXCEPT FOR ERASMUS+, e.g. SEMP, CEEPUS, OVERSEES):
Only valid for students from the universities that have a valid MoU/bilateral/inter-institutional exchange agreement with our institution! See the list of current exchange partner institutions.
C) FREE-MOVERS:
Students who are not participating within a formal inter-institutional agreement, and whose mobility is self-funded.
Free-movers must be officially nominated by their home university and must be regularly enrolled students of the sending institution.
Each free-mover application is assessed individually, based on academic compatibility and institutional capacity.
Note:
In A) case, an official nomination from the international office of the sending university is required.
In B) and C) cases, we will require the proof that an applicant is a university student (i.e. confirmation of study).
APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
1.NOMINATION:
The IRO (i.e. international office) of the sending university (home university of the student) is asked to send the nomination of the student/s with basic data:
- name
- surname
- date of birth
- field of study
- study cycle and year
- e-mail contact
by e-mail to the address: petra.noskova@uhk.cz before the deadline.
NOMINATION AND APPLICATION DEADLINES:
note: Academic year is divided into 2 terms. We call them winter semester and summer semester. It all starts with winter semester (September - January) and follows with summer semester (February - June). Students may choose to come for one semester (either winter or summer) or the whole year.
Deadlines for upcoming academic year 2026/2027.
FULL ACADEMIC YEAR: 31 May 2026 (VISA students - 15 May)
FOR WINTER SEMESTER: 31 May 2026 (VISA students - 15 May)
FOR SUMMER SEMESTER: 30 November 2026 (VISA students - 31 October)
2. APPLICATION DOCUMENTS:
Nominated student must submit:
A) Before the deadline:
- Student Application and Accommodation Form
- ERASMUS+ Learning agreement for Studies (or digital OLA) or EXCHANGE Study Plan Proposal
- Copy of student´s identity card (EU citizens) or passport (in both cases: identification page with personal data and photo)
- Copy of EHIC, European Health Insurance Card ( =EU citizens)
- Transcript of previous home studies
- Declaration of personal data provided („GDPR“ declaration)
B) 1 month before arrival: non-EU and visa students:
- Copy of visa (or as soon as available)
- Copy of Comprehensive Health Insurance Contract (= non-EU, visa students)

All these forms must be sent electronically as scanned documents by e-mail to the following address: petra.noskova@uhk.cz .
Students do not need to send them by post, if the documents are sent as scanned copies of good quality and the photo is also sent electronically in the required form.
3. ACCOMMODATION:
We provide student accommodation in the UHK Halls of Residence: see more info and pictures.
We offer accommodation in triple rooms, some double rooms, in a two-room apartments with shared facilities (bathroom, toilet, kitchen), so that 4 to 6 students share a modestly furnished apartment.
Students must tick YES on the Student Application and Accommodation Form, if they wish to live in the student accommodation.
Rent varies between 3000-3800 CZK (= approx. 125-155 EUR/120-152 USD per month (including electricity, water and wi-fi connection).
A deposit of 2000 CZK (that is approx. 81 EUR/80 USD) including rent for the whole semester must be paid by the student upon arrival.
For stays of less then 60 days, an additional city tax (40 CZK per day= approx. 1,65 EUR/1,60 USD per day) will be charged.
If the student prefers a different type of accommodation (e.g. single room or apartment) or private accommodation, we can provide some useful links to companies that offer rentals, but it is up to the student to arrange/book it.
4. VISA AND INSURANCE:
VISA:
Student/s from non-EU countries (e.g. Turkey) must apply for a visa in order to obtain authorisation for their exchange stay in the Czech Republic.
Students must apply for a LONG-TERM VISA/PERMISSION (PURPOSE: STUDY)
Please, note that it is very important to apply for the visa as soon as possible, as the visa procedure can take 60 days or more (from the date of the visa appointment)!
We may be able to facilitate this process by using special so-called student visa scheme for some specific countries (as soon as the student provides us with the necessary documents, he/she will be informed accordingly.)

INSURANCE:
Student/s are required to take out a travel health insurance in accordance with the insurance regulations of the Czech Republic, which must be valid for the entire period of their stay in the Czech Republic.
Students with a visa are obliged to take out a Comprehensive Health Insurance for Foreigners, valid for the entry to the CZ.
5. STUDIES:
We offer course modules, that allow your students to design their study plan according to their subject requirements.
In addition to their studies, these modules also provide the opportunity for your students to undertake a teaching placement in a school (primary, secondary).
Please, see the attached list of the Faculty of Education´s course modules, which are taught in English (partly in German, French and Russian).
Your students can also choose courses of other faculties, then the host faculty, but they must keep the rule of 75% enrolled courses in the host faculty.

Note: Number of credits and courses enrolled, depends on demands/conditions of your home (i.e. sending) institution.
Kind reminder: Please, pay attention to what faculty you wish to study at. EACH FACULTY of the University of Hradec Kralove has its own nomination procedure with its own forms and deadlines.
