The project is aimed at supporting the community of practice for the development of the key competencies, literacy, cross-sectional themes and cross-curricular relationships in the subject of the social and civic competence across subjects at primary and secondary schools. The project is based on the necessity to be fully competent with regard to the ongoing changes in society. Given that competencies are not only acquired through memorization or derivation but also through our own practice, experience, this type of education must be included in the learning process. The key competencies are general skills that are important in a variety of learning, working and personal life situations. However, the school surveys show that it is still difficult for many teachers to include activities and situations that are geared towards shaping and developing the key competencies of pupils, in education. The project aims to improve the current situation. One of the substantial changes that the framework education programs have brought to teachers' work and thinking is that they put the results of education at the forefront - it is important what the teacher and the pupils should reach. The essence of change lies in the fact that the curriculum and focus on its acquisition cease to be crucial and the achievement of specific knowledge, skills, attitudes, competencies usable in practical situations become to be crucial. Consideration of how they are achieved should influence the choice of curriculum, the setting of learning situations, teaching procedures and assessment methods. The model way of thinking about the key competencies in teaching is also derived from the expected outcome of the education.
