UHK reaffirms its position in the international ranking

Author: Matyáš Strnad

In the annual World University Rankings of the Times Higher Education, the University of Hradec Králové ranked 1201–1500, reaffirming its place amongst the world's top higher education institutions.

There is a push for scientific excellence in the academic environment worldwide. Research is, of course, one of the most influential variables in the new ranking methodology. It comprises almost a third of the evaluated whole and is weighted in the peer group based on reputation survey, research income, and research productivity. Universities are primarily educational institutions, so teaching is another 30% of the ranking. Evaluators again focus on a reputation survey, staff-to-student ratio, doctorate-to-bachelor's ratio, doctorates-awarded-to-academic-staff ratio, and institutional income. Citations are the last 30% part, international outlook and industry income being less influential but essential nonetheless.

"We continue with the process of establishing our university as one of the world's leading academic institutions. I always stress that we have global potential despite our regional character. And I am, of course, grateful to the Times Higher Education for recognizing our endeavors. Thank you all who contribute to our tireless progress, students, academics, and all other employees," says UHK Rector, prof. Kamil Kuča.

WUR2023

The worldwide rank of 1201–1500 is a great success. But moreover, the results are also available on the national level. Last year we placed 8th among the 18 evaluated institutions. This year we jumped to 6th shared position! The international outlook is our highest-ranked pillar.

The whole ranking and more information are available on THE World University Rankings website.
