Results of the Large Questionnaire Survey 2024

At the turn of October and November last year, an extensive survey was conducted among the employees of the University of Hradec Králové and doctoral students. The aim of the survey was to assess satisfaction with various aspects of work or study life – from working conditions and facilities to the overall environment in which employees and doctoral students operate.

In 2024, a total of 444 respondents participated in the survey. The overall response rate was 45% among all employees, and if doctoral students are included, the response rate was 42%. Since the data collection was completed, the research team from the Department of Sociology has been working on a detailed analysis and interpretation of the results. Selected key findings have already been presented to the university leadership on multiple occasions and serve as a basis for further decision-making. We have attempted to respond to the initial partial results promptly – either through small practical changes or proposals for specific measures.

We are preparing additional presentations. The results of the survey will be presented at the Academic Senate meeting on November 12, 2025, and simultaneously at the Academic Community meeting on the same day.

We are pleased that the University of Hradec Králové is perceived as a stable and good employer. Feedback from employees indicates that they appreciate the working environment and conditions provided by UHK.

A positive signal is also that a large proportion of employees appreciate the possibility of a good work-life balance. When asked whether their position at UHK allows them to appropriately combine professional and personal life, more than 40% of respondents answered “definitely yes,” and another two-fifths answered “rather yes.” Only 15% responded “rather no,” and two respondents answered “definitely no.” As supporting material, we have created the Handbook for Reconciling Personal and Professional Life of UHK Employees.

92% of respondents consider interpersonal relations in the workplace to be good, and compared to the first questionnaire survey, trust in these relationships increased by 20%. 83% of respondents also expressed satisfaction with the composition of work activities.

The main areas of the survey included the evaluation of UHK as an employer, ethical aspects, professional development, the nature of the work performed, and financial compensation including benefits.
