About Us

The preparation of technical subjects' teachers has been taking place in Hradec Králové since 1964, when an independent Pedagogical Faculty was established in Hradec Králové, so the department is one of the oldest at the university.

At present, the Department of Technical Education provides teaching of the bachelor study program Fundamentals of Technology with a focus on education and follow-up master programs in Teacher Training for Primary Schools - Fundamentals of Technology and Teacher Training for Secondary Schools - Fundamentals of Technology.

The bachelor study program covers a wide range of basic knowledge of engineering and electrical engineering, necessary for teachers of technical subjects, and is mainly a preparation for follow-up master's programs. In master's degree programs, students will acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to create educational programs and to teach technically oriented subjects at primary and secondary schools in the Framework Educational Program Man and the World of Work in the following areas: work with technical materials, design and construction, operation and household maintenance, food preparation, laboratory equipment, digital technology and the world of work.

The Department of Technical Education annually organizes an international conference Modernizing University Education of Technical Education, which focuses on the results of research and development in technical fields, innovation of technical study programs, trends in didactics of vocational subjects, effective work with information and comparative studies in the field of technical education. The research activities of the department focus on the area of ​​machining technologies, machine construction, measurement and signal processing in electrical engineering, and on the auditorium of classrooms.

The Department of Technical Education cooperates with the Department of Special Education of the Faculty of Education in the field of occupational therapy. Foreign cooperation is developing with universities in Slovenia (Maribor) and Slovakia. In the field of domestic professional activities, the department has long been cooperating with the Technical Faculty of the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague in the field of mechanical engineering. Co-operation with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen in the field of acoustic measurements is gradually developing.
