Foreign Postdoctoral Foreign Senior Researchers

„It is an extensive list, or basically a database with a clear and transparent methodology. Generally, it includes scientists within two categories – Career and Single 2019. The Career category focuses on the contribution masured by citations during their complete career until the end of 2019, while the Single category reflects citations of publications received only in the year 2019”, explains Ondřej Krejcar, the UHK Vice-Rector for Science and Creative Activities.

He is also one of the three UHK academics who scored in the Career category. He is accompanied by Kamil Kuča, the UHK Rector and toxicologist, and Associate Professor Jiří Bajgar who works at the Faculty of Science at UHK.

The two percent of scientists whose studies and articles are often cited within the international competition also include Ph.D. Eugenie Nepovimová and Professor Kamil Musílek in the 2019 Single category, aforesaid Professor Kamil Kuča, who is represented in both categories, and Associate Professor Blanka Klímová. “Unlike her colleagues, Associate Professor Klímová does not work in the area of medical and biomolecular chemistry, but in the field of education, or social sciences, to be more precise. In that field, she is among the top one hundred academics compared within the Czech Republic”, Vice-Rector Krejcar adds.

UHK amid five recognised “young” Czech universities

The growing quality and international recognition of the University of Hradec Králové has also been confirmed by the première ranking of UHK of the Times Higher Education (THE) magazine of 2020, which focuses on universities referred to as “young”. “Even though the beginning of our university dates back to 1959 when teachers’ education started at the former Teaching Institute, the University of Hradec Králové as an institution under its current name is a young university. The international competition in the field of new research-educational institutions is enormous, therefore we are very pleased with such success”, Leona Stašová, the UHK Vice-Rector for International Relations praises the new ranking and adds: "UHK was assessed on the basis of 13 criteria within THE Young University Rankings 2020. They included, for example, the approach of school to education, research, transfer of technologies and internationalization.”

The university ranking among countries with emerging economies (The Times Higher Education Emerging Economies University Rankings 2020) or its placement in the major and internationally recognised ranking of the company – World University Rankings are great news and a reward. However, the placement of the University of Hradec Králové in the “young” ranking by THE is not the only première of 2020 and success in such activities. Thanks to the activity of the academic staff of the Faculty of Science, UHK is also included in the Nature Index for the very first time. It is a database monitoring high-quality publications in natural sciences. “Those were put through by physicists Janusz Gluza and Jiří Lipovský in the period from June 2019 to May 2020,” concludes Jan Kříž, the Dean of the Faculty of Science, UHK.
