Summer School at the Faculty of Education UHK Welcomes More Than 60 Students from Asia

Czech, English, Korean, and Chinese can all be heard across the classrooms, studios, and campus of the Faculty of Education at the University of Hradec Králové this summer. The Faculty of Education at the University of Hradec Králové has officially opened the 9th International Summer School, which has become a longstanding tradition and an integral part of the Faculty's summer activities.This year the faculty is welcoming more than 60 students from South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and China for an intensive five-week programme combining academic study, creative activities, and cultural experiences.

The core of the programme consists of courses in the Czech language, Czech culture, and Czech music, giving participants an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the country's history and traditions. Students also take part in a wide range of creative workshops, including printmaking, animation, artistic intervention, plein-air art, and art therapy. As part of their introduction to Czech craftsmanship, they will make their own traditional sewd-on button and decorate a hat to take home as a unique souvenir.

Beyond the shared programme, participants can further develop their language skills by attending English conversation classes and a French language course, both taught by native speakers. These additional courses enrich the international learning environment and provide students with valuable opportunities to improve their communication skills.

The Summer School extends well beyond the classroom. A diverse programme of excursions and leisure activities allows participants to discover the city of Hradec Králové as well as many of the Czech Republic's most remarkable historical and cultural sites. Along the way, they build international friendships, exchange perspectives, and experience Czech culture firsthand.

The International Summer School has become an important part of the Faculty of Education's internationalisation activities. It creates opportunities for intercultural dialogue, academic cooperation, and lasting partnerships while offering international students an unforgettable experience of studying and living in the Czech Republic.
