Summer School 2026: "Innovative Minds and Calm Souls" comes to a successful close

From 13 July to 12 August 2026, around 60 students from Asian countries spent almost five weeks at the university, enjoying a combination of learning, creativity, cultural experiences and socialising.

During the Summer School, the students had the opportunity to learn the basics of the Czech language and discover Czech culture from a variety of perspectives. They explored Czech music and took part in a wide range of creative workshops, where they experimented with various artistic techniques, such as graphic art, animation, outdoor painting, hat decoration, sewn-on button making and wirework.

The programme also offered numerous opportunities to explore Hradec Králové and the surrounding region. The students visited interesting cultural and historical sites, including the White Tower, the Museum of East Bohemia, galleries. They also discovered the UNESCO-listed historic town of Kutná Hora and visited the Pardubice Automatic Mills, Chateau and Planetarium.

An important part of the Summer School was spending time together outside the classroom. Students took part in various leisure activities together with Czech students, giving them the chance to make new friends, practise their language skills and experience everyday life in the Czech Republic. They also discovered traditional Czech board games and enjoyed many informal moments together.

The Summer School was therefore not only about acquiring new knowledge and skills, but also about sharing experiences, discovering Czech culture and creating new friendships. The students enriched the summer life of the university with their energy, enthusiasm and international spirit.

We consider this year's Summer School a great success and would like to thank all the participants for their active involvement, enthusiasm and positive attitude throughout the programme.

We wish all our Summer School graduates a safe journey home and many wonderful memories of their time in Hradec Králové!
