The Master study program Biology and Ecology follows the bachelor studies of the programme of the same name. Theoretical knowledge is developed within the compulsory and compulsory-optional subjects in the framework of seminars, practices and field practices. All students of this study programme get the knowledge of the main disciplines – Biological monitoring, Landscape ecology, Restoration ecology, Developmental biology and Biotechnologies. The students can specialize from the beginning of the study to three specializations: Plant Biology, Animal Biology and Experimental Biology. The study of Plant Biology focuses on the study of most important ecological aspects connected with plant biology and conservation of plants, from molecular and cell view through the populations, species to the ecosystems. The study is completed with a final State Examination containing two parts: General – and from the specialization and the defence of the Diploma Thesis.

Previous Education/Experience

A graduate of the Bachelor program Biology and Ecology, Biology with specializations or a similar bachelor program where graduate obtained a professional biological education.

Career Opportunities

The graduate of the Master's study program Biology and Ecology has detailed knowledge of advanced biological, ecological and landscape-conservation fields. The graduate's professional profile is developed through a specialization focused on either Plant Biology, Animal Biology or Experimental Biology. Thanks to a wide range of studies, the graduate is well oriented in biologically and ecologically focused information, which is graduate able to search, analyse and draw conclusions. The graduate is able to safely lead a biological laboratory and responsibly assess the risks of such work. The knowledge gathered through this study programme is a prerequisite for successful entry into practice or study in doctoral programs focused on biological or ecological disciplines in the Czech Republic or abroad.
