Merit Scholarship
A student in full-time study is entitled to a merit scholarship based on academic results from the previous academic year.
Bachelor’s students may receive the scholarship from their second year of study. Students in follow-up Master’s programmes who completed their Bachelor’s degree at FIM immediately prior may receive the scholarship from their first year (the final year of the Bachelor’s study is counted as the previous year).
A full-time student must meet the following criteria:
- Is enrolled as of October 31 (the date of evaluation and award of the scholarship at FIM),
- Earned at least 60 credits in the previous academic year,
- Successfully completed at least four graded courses (i.e., at least 4 exams) in the previous academic year,
- Achieved the required academic performance – the grade is calculated as a weighted average.
The amount of the merit scholarship and the required academic performance are tiered as follows:
- 3× base amount = grade up to and including 1.10
- 2× base amount = grade greater than 1.10 up to and including 1.25
- 1× base amount = grade greater than 1.25 up to and including 1.50
Students do not apply for the merit scholarship. The decision on the award is published in IS/STAG during November. The merit scholarship is paid as a one-time payment, usually in December or at the next available payment date.
The amount and conditions for awarding the merit scholarship at FIM are set by the Dean’s directive. The total amount allocated for merit scholarships is determined anew each academic year and may therefore increase or decrease compared to the previous year. The amount depends on the number of students eligible for the scholarship and the funds available from the scholarship fund.
For the academic year 2024/2025, the base amount for the merit scholarship was set at CZK 12,000 for scholarships evaluated and awarded as of October 31, 2024.
