Superdoctoral Student Status

The Superdoctoral Student Status is defined in the Dean’s Directive of the Faculty of Informatics and Management (FIM) No. 1/2017, Appendix No. 1.

The Superdoctoral Student designation is intended for PhD candidates who wish to engage in their doctoral studies and scientific research, or potentially more extensive teaching activities, with greater commitment, while still fulfilling the standard obligations of a doctoral student. We offer support, encouragement and an environment supportive of these students' creative endeavours. The activities of a Superdoctoral Student are structured as three-month projects.

If a doctoral student or their supervisor has an interesting topic they would like to pursue, they must prepare a written proposal together. The topic must be specified in sufficient detail to allow for evaluation without additional information and to ensure it can be completed within the designated three-month period. The student’s interest in the selected topic must be supported by a motivation letter (with optional attachments).

To apply for Superdoctoral Student status, the doctoral student must ask their supervisor to submit the project proposal and motivation letter to the Vice-Dean for Science and Research for approval (electronic submission is sufficient).

Following the conclusions of the Dean’s Board, the scope of Superdoctoral Student projects has been expanded to include extensive teaching activities. The interpretation in the current Dean’s Directive No. 1/2017 is extended to include the following:

Projects will be selected primarily on the basis of their potential to support either excellent research at the University of Hradec Králové (UHK) or the teaching of courses in the department of the doctoral student. It may be to assist researchers with parts of their research or to innovate teaching by broadening or deepening the content of selected courses, or to create teaching materials within the specified scope.
