About us

The department provides compulsory teaching of professional English and German in the fields of Applied Informatics, Information Management and Economics and Management. For foreign students, the department offers Czech language for foreigners.

In the field of Tourism Management (with a focus on English or German), language, realia, literature and culture, and translation and interpreting are also taught. Within this field, there is also an optional teaching of other languages for those interested, specifically Spanish, Russian and Chinese.

One of the key points of the department's activities is research in the field of the use of information technologies in foreign language teaching, especially the development of e-learning courses. More than 80 e-learning courses have already been created in the department and others are being developed.

Members of the department actively participate in the teaching of foreign students in summer schools, organized by the Faculty of Informatics and Management.

The department closely cooperates, for example, with the British Council, the Goethe-Institute, or the German Tourist Board, as well as with many foreign universities.

Through IDV FIM, the department cooperates with ETS GLOBAL where it participates in providing international TOEIC and TOEFL exams.
