Pavel Čech joins the ranks of associate professors of the Department of Information Technologies

At the end of June, Pavel Čech defended his habilitation thesis before the Research Board of the Faculty of Informatics Management. Effective from his appointment by Rector Kamil Kuča on 1 August 2020, Pavel Čech became an associate professor specialising in systems engineering and informatics.

“In my thesis I compared various types of UML diagrams used in the development of software systems. I tried to identify similarities between two UML diagrams in spite of the differences between their visual representations,” the new associate professor explains the fruits of five years of his research.

Pavel Čech has been with the Department of Information Technologies at FIM UHK since 2003. In 2005, he obtained his PhD in information and knowledge management. He teaches courses on object modelling and business informatics. At FIM, he participated in various research projects organised under the auspices of EU framework programmes and in the projects of the Czech Science Foundation. He also co-organised international workshops and conferences in the area of smart work environment technologies.

His current research interest lies mostly in the area of the application of intelligent technologies that aim to minimize the adverse impact of tsunami, to optimize document workflow management and to implement a paperless laboratory environment.

Associate Professor Ing. Pavel Čech, PhD is from Hradec Kralove. He majored in Information Management at the Faculty of Informatics and Management of the University of Hradec Králové. He is an ardent skier, and a former Alpine skiing competitor.
