International Visits to FIM Continue throughout the Summer
Although the summer semester ended some time ago, the doors of the Faculty of Informatics and Management at the University of Hradec Králové (FIM UHK) remain open to international visitors throughout the holiday period.
In July alone, the faculty welcomed representatives of universities from Taiwan, South Korea, and South Africa. None of them were visiting FIM for the first time. Kelvin Chen from the Office of International Affairs at National Pingtung University and IIyong Bae, a coordinator at Daegu National University of Education, came to FIM together with students participating in the faculty’s annual summer school. During individual meetings with Professor Blanka Klímová, Vice-Dean for International Relations, they also discussed opportunities for further cooperation. The discussions focused primarily on student exchanges during the academic year and the continued development of the summer school. New opportunities are also emerging for doctoral students. For example, the Taiwanese partner university offers a small scholarship that doctoral students may use when completing their compulsory research stay at an international partner institution.
Similar discussions were held with representatives of the University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa. FIM welcomed Dr Normah Zondo and Dr Lungelo Siphosethu Mbatha, whose academic specialisation is philosophy. Dr Zondo has maintained a long-standing partnership with the University of Hradec Králové in the field of international cooperation and related activities.
An online meeting with representatives of Shimonoseki City University in Japan also took place in July. The university expressed an interest in a two-week winter school that FIM plans to organise in February, once again focusing on intercultural studies.
International cooperation at FIM does not take a summer break. Every meeting, exchange programme, and newly developed initiative opens another path to the world for students and academics, while bringing the world closer to FIM.
In addition to the academics, we were also visited by Dr Eva Janebová, CEO of the Mestenhauser Institute for International Collaboration. She was accompanied by high school and university students from the United States who are interested in Czech and Slovak cultural heritage. They were very impressed with our facilities, and some of them even began considering studying at the Faculty of Informatics and Management.
