Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Program

Date of Event: 06/07/2023

Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Program (BIP) for students merges short-term physical mobility abroad with compulsory virtual learning. This type of program is quite new; this spring the Faculty of Informatics and Management (FIM) organized this program for the first time. According to students´ feedback, this event was successful.

So, let´s have a look at how it was organized:

The on-line part took place from May 2 until May 23, 2023, and the physical part was held at FIM from May 29 until June 2, 2023. The topic of this course was “Intercultural Studies” conducted by Assoc. Prof. Blanka Klímová and by dr. Marcel Pikhart who led one lecture during the face-to-face part. Students from the "December 1 1918" Alba Iulia University, Romania, and University of Sassari, Italy, participated in this program and arrived in Hradec Králové for one week.

During this busy week, they attended lectures, passed the exam, and of course they learned about the Czech Republic – our history, traditions, habits, lifestyle, or cuisine. They had a chance to get to know some parts of our country – Kutná Hora, Adršpach, and also Hradec Králové or PETROF - the family company settled in Hradec.  We tried to make an interesting and amusing program for them and we guess the barbecue in a forest was one of the most entertaining events.

We hope everybody enjoyed it and we are looking forward to the next year when the second year of BIP will take place.

As Blanka Klímová puts it:

To appreciate and understand one's own culture, one has to learn about another culture. One has to be open to new knowledge and new cultural experiences and want to meet people from completely different cultural backgrounds. This requires a lot of empathy and understanding, which ultimately contributes to enriching our lives.  I am very glad that I had the opportunity to experience this again and I personally enjoyed the BIP teaching very much.
