Chemistry - Spec. Toxicology and Analysis of Pollutants

  • Typ studia: Magisterské navazující
  • Forma studia: Prezenční
  • Doba studia: 2 roky
  • Vyučovací jazyk: Angličtina

Popis studia

The Master study program Chemistry focuses on the study of common profile chemical disciplines (Advanced Inorganic Chemistry, Advanced Organic Chemistry, Chromatographic Methods, Mass Spectrometry, Advanced Biochemical Methods) along with compulsory-optional courses in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, biology and professional practice. Theoretical knowledge is developed within the compulsory and compulsory-optional subjects in the framework of seminars and laboratory practice. Chemically oriented education is further developed by specializations where students can choose either a block of courses focused on Bioorganic Chemistry or a block of courses focused on Toxicology and Analysis of Pollutants. The student can also choose other chemical, biological-chemical and toxicological subjects as a suitable complement to profile courses and courses of the selected specialization, where students are able to gain foreign experience within the research internships. The study is completed with a final State Examination in chemically focused thematic areas and the defence of the Diploma Thesis.

The aim of the study is to acquaint students with advanced chemical and related disciplines with an emphasis on practical laboratory experience and skills. Studying this program allows direct entry into practice, but also the possibility to continue in the corresponding doctoral studying program.

Profil uchazeče

A graduate of the Bachelor program Chemistry, Chemistry with specializations or a similar bachelor program where graduate obtained a professional chemical education.

Profil absolventa

The graduate of the Master's study program Chemistry has detailed knowledge of advanced chemical and related fields. In particular, the graduate is able to demonstrate advanced chemical, mathematical and physical knowledge for molecular and macroscopic transformations, properties of elements, their compounds and structures. Furthermore, graduate is able to understand the possibilities, conditions and limitations of various methods of experimental measurement as well as limitations related to their accuracy. The graduate is also able to comprehensively understand the context of chemical practice with health, human nutrition, environmental risks and sustainable development.

The graduate's professional profile is developed through a specialization focused on either Bioorganic Chemistry or Toxicology and Analysis of Pollutants. Thanks to a wide range of studies, the graduate is well oriented in chemically focused information, which is graduate able to search, analyse and draw conclusions. The graduate is able to safely lead a chemical laboratory and responsibly assess the risks of such work.

Knowledge of the structure, reactivity and physical-chemical properties of chemical compounds as well as biological and toxicological processes gives graduate a prerequisite for successful entry into practice or study in doctoral programs focused on chemical or toxicological disciplines in the Czech Republic or abroad.

Navazující studia

Doctoral studying program Toxicology.

Přijímací řízení

The entrance examination for all applicants is based on an assessment of the Bachelor's study and an oral interviewDuring the interview, the applicant's knowledge of the English language will also be verified (at least level B1 of CEFR standard).
