Days of Francophony*Journées de la Francophonie at the University of Hradec Králové
The Section of French Language, Faculty of Education invites you to the Days of Francophony, a series of events devoted to life and culture of French speaking countries, taking place on March 15 - 31, 2010 mainly at the Building of Common Education of the University of Hradec Králové in Hradecká street. The festival covers a wide range of artistic expression: the visitors will be invited to enjoy painting and photograph exhibitions, theatre performances, public readings with the authors´ participation and film screenings. The festival is organized in cooperation with the embassies of France and Canada and other institutions. For more information, download the syllabus in

22.02. - We are proud to announce that the University of Hradec Králové opens a new concert hall to public. The hall is situated in the building of the Department of Arts Culture at Regiocentrum New Brewery (Nový pivovar, Pivovarské náměstí) in Hradec Králové, and it is named after Petr Eben, one of the most prominent Czech composers of contemporary classical music, who was also an important organist, a university teacher and, last but not least, a native of Eastern Bohemia. We cordially invite you to the opening ceremony that will take place on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at 19,00. Teachers and students of the Department of Music of the Faculty of Education, University of Hradec Králové, and the children’s choir Jitro will perform several compositions by Petr Eben; moreover, the visitors will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the work of this famous composer from the theoretical point of view through a lecture by dr. Vondrovičová. We are pleased that with the hall opening the University of Hradec Králové contributes to the richness of the town’s cultural life.

His Excellency Vicente Espeche Gil, the Ambassador of Argentina to the Czech Republic, paid a visit to the University of Hradec Králové. The main purpose of His Excellency´s visit was to discuss thoroughly the possibilities of mutual cooperation and student exchange between the University of Hradec Králové and universities in Argentina. These opportunities will concern primarily students of Latin American Studies at the Department of Political Science at the Faculty of Arts. The University of Hradec Králové has already estabilished partnerships with several universities in Peru, Venezuela and Chile, and within the last year these contacts have been exploited for the first time. Argentina is thus the fourth country to offer a unique opportunity to study Latin American studies in the region itself.
25.01. - We proudly announce the publication of I Too Have Been to Italy..., a book written by dr. Nella Mlsová, who teaches at the Department of Czech Language and Literature at the Faculty of Education. The book deals with the reflection of Italy in the works of Czech authors. The book is divided into two parts: the first part consists of the analyses of the individual texts presented in the book, and it is followed by the anthology of the relevant texts.
25.01. - Česká spořitelna Inc., one of the major Czech banks and the general partner of the University of Hradec Králové, provided the university with extra financial support to award the best research workers of the university. The amount was shared by almost sixty research workers; twenty researchers with the most outstanding results participated in the ceremony taking place within the Scientist Day, and they received the prize from the bank director general in person.
22.01. - We are proud to announce the publication of Namibie by Jan Klíma, Associate Professor teaching at the Department of Political Science, University of Hradec Králové. The book deals with the history of the Namibian state from pre-colonial period till the most recent times. According to the author’s words, Namibia can be seen as a colourful textbook of overcoming racial and national conflicts, and through the description of the state’s rich history he tries to explain why Namibia is nowadays a state of exceptional stability. Useful information and a bibliography included.
