The
Diploma Supplement (DS) is a document issued together with the diploma upon
graduation from the bachelor's and master's study programme. The Diploma
Supplement is being issued in a widely spoken European language, given automatically and free of charge to every student upon graduation. The Diploma Supplement at the University
of Hradec Králové is issued bilingually, in the Czech-English version.
The Diploma
Supplement is designed to provide a description of the nature, level, context,
content and status of the studies that were pursued and successfully completed
by the individual named on the diploma. It contains the list of courses and
examinations taken, including number of credits which were awarded for each
course and ECTS evaluation. The supplement includes also information on the
courses completed abroad, bachelor's or master's thesis, defence of the thesis,
final state examinations, and overall evaluation of the study results. The
Diploma Supplement provides a brief description of Czech higher education
system. The Diploma Supplement follows the model developed by the European
Commission, Council of Europe and UNESCO/CEPES. As from 2006, issuing of the
Diploma Supplement has been implemented by act No. 111/1998 Sb. on Higher
Education Institutions of Higher Education and the amendments thereto.
The purpose of the
Diploma Supplement is to provide sufficient independent data to improve the
international ‘transparency’ to facilitate the recognition of studies and
qualifications.
The University of Hradec Králové has been granted the DS Label, the prestigious European Commission's award, for the period 2010–2013.
