Department of Foreign Languages

The Department of Foreign Languages is responsible for the instruction of English, German, Spanish, French, Russian and Polish within obligatory courses for all degree programmes of the Faculty of Arts. The department provides instruction of English for the staff of the faculty. The department closely cooperates with other units of the faculty, assisting for example with establishing contacts and partnerships with foreign universities.

The department is a part of the Regional Centre of the University of Hradec Králové where it is possible to pass the international language exam ECL – European Consortium for the Certificate of Attainment in Modern Languages. In the academic year 2010/2011 the department launches cooperation with the ESOL Cambridge centre that offers range of certificates for students and teachers of English (FCE, CAE, CPE, etc.). These exams can now be passed in the premises of the University of Hradec Králové too.

Students with valid international ECL or ESOL exam certificates can have these exams recognized within the university studies. For more information, please see the section Study at the faculty website.

A monolingual language exam ECL is offered in four levels (A2, B1, B2, C1 according to the Common European Frame for Languages), and it does not include either grammar test or translation tasks.
